DESERT RIBBONS reimagines the social act of public seating. Furniture and architecture are integrated in a spatial design installation using camel leather that explores different ‘seated’ positions of the body and a variety of social situations that seating can safely create. The installation features a two-seat version with an ‘UPRIGHT’ chair and ‘STANDING’ chair.
The design references regional nature, such as the topography of desert dunes, the desert camel, and the ghaf tree, in its concept, form, and materiality.
DESERT RIBBONS is a collaboration with Bishoy Girgis and on view from 9-14 November at d3, Dubai, UAE, as part of Dubai Design Week. Sponsored by Lines and Dots Artworks Specialist.
