We are so happy these days as we are approaching Eid al-Fitr. People are all happy, and the markets and city centers are teeming with people everywhere. Therefore, it is really amazing for me when I am strolling through the city and I look at people with very high enthusiasm, buying things for Eid. Women and girls go to shopping centers, searching for hours, and still, they cannot find their desired clothes. Teenagers hang out with their friends, freely enjoying life and laughing. Children are very amazed by these preparations for Eid and house cleaning (Khana Takani, as we say in Dari). So, I get a kind of special feeling when I watch them all, and sometimes I say to myself, Do only I have these feelings, or do other people feel the same? Maybe, or maybe not. On the other hand, I become so upset and disappointed when I see a post on social media while scrolling that another place, Palestine, has been bombarded and so many people have been killed. It is really unfair and far from humanity that people all over the world are celebrating Eid al-Fitr except Palestinian families, whose houses are being destroyed and whose family members have been killed. When I see a photograph of a very little baby looking passionately for his parents without knowing they have passed away, I feel heartbroken. Thus, when I look at these situations, I say to myself, How can we be happy and celebrate Eid in peace while there exist families waiting for food to eat or water to drink? Sometimes I ask this question: Why should they be in such a worse condition? Are they guilty? By the way, there is no way except to pray for them and wish for a peaceful life without any injustice. I hope they will be happy at least, if not in this world, then in the next.
