Some traditions stay alive because people continue to care for them.

In Vienna, the Spanish Riding School is a reminder of how knowledge, discipline and craftsmanship are passed from one generation to the next. What has been learned over time is not simply preserved, but brought into the present through practice and dedication.

We are drawn to this relationship between heritage and reinterpretation — to the idea that looking forward doesn’t mean leaving everything behind.

Sometimes, it means seeing what is already there in a different way.

We have always been fascinated by the objects that carry a history with them.

The Reins Bucket began with something very familiar in Vienna: the leather reins used in classical riding.

Inspired by the way reins are braided, wrapped and held, we translated this detail into the handle of the bag — giving a familiar element a new purpose and making it the character of the design.

Perhaps that is what we like most about design: taking something familiar and looking at it a little differently.

The Pazar Book Tote, our signature silhouette, is reinterpreted in soft Italian cow leather and defined by a new central seam. A homage to literature and to our enduring love of books, it is designed with a considered space for the one you are currently reading — always within easy reach.

Rather than doing the same thing as everyone else, we like to do things a little differently.
Sometimes, that’s how you find unexpected common ground with people.

For us, it happens to be reading — wherever we happen to be.

We made a paper bag.

Like the bags in the Pazar series, it is designed not only to carry something, but also to close.

It is a familiar paper bag, with one small detail added: tying it closed.

In Japanese, there is an expression, en wo musubu, meaning to form or strengthen a connection with someone. We found the idea of tying something before giving it to someone especially meaningful.

For now, it is available exclusively at our Vienna store.

What connects the Spanish Riding School and SAGAN Vienna? A shared belief that true mastery takes time.
For the Reins Collection SAGAN Vienna draws inspiration from one of Vienna’s most distinctive cultural institutions: The art of riding – from the quiet rituals of preparation to the craftsmanship of saddlery and bridles, honoring the unique relationship between horse, human and object.

At the heart of the Reins Collection is the Reins Bucket Bag, featuring a signature hand-braided leather handle inspired by traditional horse reins. A functional detail becomes a defining element and small ritual, echoing the Spanish Riding School’s belief in precision, patience and the continuous refinement of craftsmanship passed down through generations.

We’d like to celebrate this shared connection with you!

We are giving away a Reins Bucket Bag in white color, whose accompanying photoshoot took place at the Spanish Riding School.
