Hi all, hope you had a great festive season. Late off the mark this time, heat has put us off going to the market this week. Hopefully it eases for our first run of the year next weekend.
In the meantime, have been doing some therapeutic beadwork...

Heres a treat in honor of Morrissey, and Christmas put together:
Your the One for Me Fatty Milo and Malteser home made ice cream.
You will need:
Equipment - one ice cream maker, spatula, plastic container
Ice cream base:
250ml full cream milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
65g caster sugar
3 egg yolks
50ml pure cream (thickened is fine)

1-2 desertspoons milo
1/2 cup (ok more) maltesers mashed into chunks

Put on your apron. For this recipe, I chose a frisky tattoo design.

Bring milk vanilla and half the sugar, to just short of a boil. Mix egg yolks and the other half of the sugar, remove milk from heat and whisk in the egg mix. Stir over low heat until slightly thick and coats the back of a spoon. Remove from pan and put in the fridge for a few hours at least.
Crank up the (extremely chilled) ice cream maker, add the custard mix, cream and milo. This should thicken and rise with about 20 minutes churning. Add the crushed maltesers but dont blow up your motor! Tip out into plastic container, put the lid on it and freeze it straight away.

Double dipping totally allowed.

Tip: Keep the ice cream base recipe, more flavour suggestions and photos to come.

Expected delivery of more firemen and cowboys has been held up - the trials of ordering around christmas time, unfortunately. But will aim at having more for next weekend at Manly. Still have plenty of bright perky designs in both half and full aprons available, see you tomorrow at the waterfront.
