Has your newborn’s sleep suddenly changed around 6 weeks?

You’re not imagining it! Around this age, babies become much more alert and aware of the world around them. Those long, sleepy newborn stretches often start to disappear as they become more interested in their surroundings and their sleep cycles begin to mature.

You may notice:
✨ Shorter naps
✨ More fussiness before sleep
✨ Increased evening witching hours
✨ More frequent feeds
✨ A baby who suddenly seems harder to settle

The good news? This is a very normal developmental stage and there are things you can do to help your little one through it:

🤍 Follow age-appropriate wake windows to avoid overtiredness.
🤍 Use a dark room and white noise to reduce distractions and create a sleep-friendly environment.
🤍 Offer full feeds. Many babies experience a growth spurt around this age and may need extra calories.
🤍 Stay consistent with how you respond and settle your baby. Consistency helps them feel secure and makes sleep more predictable.

Remember, your baby’s sleep isn’t broken. They’re growing, developing, and becoming more aware of the amazing world around them. This phase won’t last forever.
