As part of SLAM, my design business, I’ve recently revisited the intersection of football culture and fashion—a space I’ve admired for years. My trip to Japan and ongoing exploration of football apparel opened my eyes to the crossover between supportive gear and everyday fashion. There’s an entire culture that blends the love of the game with bold, wearable statements.
Growing up, one of my dreams was to work for a sporting brand like Puma, where I could channel my creativity into sportswear design. I even interviewed for a role with them but ultimately decided the timing wasn’t right. Though I didn’t take that leap then, my passion for design stayed alive, even as life took me in other directions.
Lately, with my daughter and son fully immersed in football and futsal, that passion has resurfaced. I wanted to explore how to bridge my daughter’s Wildcats Futsal Club with the fashion-forward side of football culture, blending team spirit with bold design.
This project plays with the Wildcats’ striking visual identity and bold pink-and-black aesthetic. The shirt design uses a clean, modern layout with contrasting black stripes, a sleek collar, and detailed logos that command attention. The Wildcats crest on the back combines bold typography and a fierce wildcat illustration, framed in gold and black for a premium feel. A mock team motto I’ve created in latin, “Virtus. Unitas. Victoria. Perpetuum,” adds depth and a sense of pride. The SLAM griffin logo and a small league emblem tie everything together.
This concept merges team pride with a fashion sensibility, creating something that works both on and off the court. It’s my take on celebrating the game while making a statement.
Please note, this is only a concept.
