STILL USING THE STANDARD HANDCUFF KEY?

For most members, the handcuff key is one of the smallest pieces of equipment on the belt, but it is also one you need to be able to find and use quickly.

The standard key does the job. The problem is its size.

With gloves on, working around a loaded duty belt, or trying to unlock cuffs from an awkward position, a small key can be unnecessarily fiddly.

That is where an extended key makes sense.

Your belt setup probably needs to change with the role.

You may still need cuffs, OC spray, a baton and a handcuff key, but carrying a full GD-style setup into CIB, investigations or plain clothes often makes little sense.
