At his peak, he controlled over 250,000 square kilometres - an area larger than the UK - using a strategic “chain of stations” to outsmart devastating droughts.

The sheer scale of Kidman’s empire allowed him to back the nation and its people in massive ways. During WWI, he served as a major wartime benefactor, donating fighter planes, horses, and vital beef supplies to the Allied forces. His empire also cleared the path for the R.M.Williams brand, as it owes its success to the Kidman empire, who threw a struggling Reggie Williams a vital financial lifeline in 1932 with a massive order for pack saddles, providing the crucial cash needed to open his very first workshop.

Knighted in 1921, Sir Sidney Kidman’s true legacy remains the ultimate blueprint for outback grit and the greatest pastoral empire the world has ever seen.
