"How do I get my Starlink Mini onto Standby without paying $80 first?"

It's a very common question and the answer depends entirely on WHERE you bought your Mini.

We've updated our guide and flowchart with the latest info - you CAN activate directly onto Standby by changing your plan before first power-on 👇 (tap the image and pinch to zoom for full detail)

🔶 Bought direct from Starlink? Log in and change to Standby before you plug it in. You've got 7 days before auto-activation kicks in (changed from 30 days in Feb 2026)

🚨 BREAKING: Starlink just doubled the Roam data cap overnight!
Australian Roam users now get 100GB of high-speed data instead of 50GB — same $80/month price.
But there's a catch worth knowing about...
What's new: ✅ 100GB high-speed data (was 50GB) ✅ Unlimited low-speed data after you hit the cap (~0.5 Mbps) ✅ Usage alerts at 80% and 100%
What's gone: ❌ Per-GB top-ups have been removed ❌ Can't buy extra high-speed data anymore
So if you burn through your 100GB, your only option to restore full speed is upgrading to Roam Unlimited ($195/month).
For most travellers doing emails, streaming and video calls, 100GB should be plenty. But if you're a heavy user who relied on those $1.50/GB top-ups, this changes the equation.
