The volunteers of Lismore Base Hospital Auxiliary provide services for patients and raise money to purchase equipment for the Lismore Base Hospital. Everyone benefits from our efforts – you, your family, friends and other members of our community. Our volunteers are men and women from all walks of life contributing in all sorts of ways - eg sewing, baking, knitting, fundraising BBQs, selling raffl

e tickets and operating the auxiliary gift shop in the hospital foyer. If you would like to join our happy informal association, doing a little or a lot, attending meetings or not, or just to be there as a back-up, please contact our Secretary Rhonda (phone: 0427251600). Our meetings are held at 2pm on the second Thursday of the month at the Oaktree Community Centre, McKellar Place, Goonellabah. If you want to make a difference in our community, make friends and have fun – join us!

September and Spring is with us so here is the September roster. There are very few closed days this month which is great to see.
We are always looking for new members to help with the shop, raffles, our Christmas Market and, of course, making, baking, pickling, sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafting.
All funds raised go towards buying equipment for the hospital which makes being a patient, a staff member or visiting families a better experience.

Yesterday we held our AGM in the lovely surrounds of the Oak Tree Retirement Village - Goonellabah
Along with our members, there were representatives from other UHA branches. Ian Hatton and Sonya Riordan from Lismore Base Hospital were also in attendance.

Here are our open days for August. We have a couple of members away so we can’t open every day this month. However, on the days we are open we have a lovely selection of jams, pickles and Black Sauce along with all our regular favourites, like bowl cosies, crochet top hand towels, booties, knitted slippers, fingerless gloves, beanies, scarves, blankets and quilts, children’s clothes and SO much more!

Steelworks Eatery and Lismore Heights Bowling Club put on two wonderful events for the Lismore Base Hospital Auxiliary as the charity. Saturday night Winter Wonderland with Cath Simes Band and dinner with the Roxie Rose Burlesque and Pole .Sunday a charity lunch with RU Bella as MC for both events ,singing favourite songs. Lots of dancing and singing throughout the weekend events. Total money raised was $2,460.00 with raffles ,Pop up shop and 100 club at both events .This figure will change when we receive donations from Steelworks Eatery from tickets sales .Thank you to Steelworks Eatery, Lismore Heights Bowling Club, Ru Bella , Cath Simes and Roxie Rose Burlesque and Pole. Have you ever wanted to have a better look at our ever changing range of beautiful, snuggly-warm, handmade quilts and blankets? Well Thursday is your chance to do just that! We will have some extra display room just outside the hospital’s main door this Thursday, 16th July so we can display more of them.
Our main shop will be open as well with all our usual goodies. The marmalades, black sauce and pickles are simply delicious at this time of year.
We have loads of warm scarves, knitted slippers, fingerless gloves and beanies perfect for these chilly mornings.
And don’t forget our wonderful range of children’s knitwear, booties, matinee jackets and swaddles and soft toys.
Take the time to have a look and see what bargains you can pick up. See you on Thursday!

Our annual Christmas Craft Market is growing. We will have even more stall than last year! You will find all your favourite home made pickles, jams, cakes and other sweet treats along with the wonderful handmade children’s Christmas clothes, crocheted and knitted goodies, and other wonders made by the members and friends of the Lismore Base Hospital Auxiliary.
You will also be able to visit and support over 50 other stalls. As we are a homemade, homegrown and handmade market, you can guarantee to find Australian made gifts made with loving care. Come along and chat with the talented stall holders about the gorgeous items they have made for you.

What a great effort by our members! Just look how many days we are able to open in July thanks to the members who volunteer to work there and those who work behind the scenes to stock the shop with wonderful goodies.
All profits are used to buy equipment for the hospital. We are currently saving towards a Mindray Ultrasound Unit for Endoscopy Unit which cost $52,267.50.
