In between alterations, I was able to make this dress for a very long-term client 😉 The bust darts were transferred from the shoulder lines to the centre of the front, creating a unique shape to which a keyhole cutout was then also added. Even simple dart manipulation can create lovely looks! ✂

Take a look at what I managed to do today! Fun fact, in over 25 years of sewing, I have only broken a needle into 3 parts twice, the first time being in 2021. Who knew this was even possible? Normally, if they break, they only break into 2 parts…😄

The last few weeks have been incredibly busy with formal and bridesmaid dress alterations! I’ve been working on everything, from hemming and zip replacements, to taking in corset bodices (some by two whole sizes!), adding straps for some dresses, and removing them from others. I also just finished preparing a custom-made dress mock-up for a first fitting.
Now, it’s time for a short rest and a holiday!

Happy Friday! ✨
I had some new fabric sample cards arrive today for custom-made dresses, formal dresses/garments, and bridal gowns.
My collection now includes a wide range of luxurious silk satins, chiffons, organzas, georgette, and tulles, alongside various high-quality polyester options.
I am so excited to get started working with these!

Happy Weekend! Today, I got to walk along my favourite waterfront (with a lovely little cappuccino in hand) followed by opening and setting up a new addition to my workspace - a coverstitch machine 🤗 I even got some medical scrubs alterations done. A day off from work doesn't mean a day off from doing what I love ☺️

In between my current projects and client work, I wanted to share a few photos of some of the dresses I made🧵 👗
The grey one was made using linen and silk, and the purple-black dress was created using a combination of satin, jacquard and silk chiffon. The final dress, the white one, was made of crisp linen and a beautiful floral organza fabric. Combining fabrics always adds an interesting complexity to any design.
