250 000 crochet poppies installed today in Federation Square, Melbourne for Anzac Day.
Lynn Berry and her sister-in-law Margaret Knight (two women in Victoria, Australia) decided to make poppies in honour of their fathers, who served in World War II, for Remembrance Day in 2013. Originally, the idea was to create 120 poppies.
But when other people started to hear about what these two women were doing, it went viral. 30,000 contributors and more than 250,000 poppies.
