🌟 Climbing is such valuable play for babies—even before they’re walking…
🌟 It helps build the whole-body strength they need for crawling, standing and those eventual first steps. It also develops balance and coordination as they learn to shift their weight and work out where to place their hands and feet.
🌟 And perhaps my favourite benefit: it builds confidence. With every little challenge they navigate, they’re learning to trust their body, solve problems and understand how they fit within the space around them.
🌟 From our own experience I feel our kids learnt their own risk assessment skills and are very sure footed as they scamper around in the bush or up trees 🌳
Bonus - As a kid who occasional made her parents nervous with her own endeavours I now thoroughly enjoy watching my own children continue the tradition and make my parents nervous STILL by scaling something much higher than what they’re comfortable seeing haha.
Of course, for babies under one, keep climbing opportunities low, age-appropriate and closely supervised (you can see my hand nearby) but don’t be surprised if they don’t need you.
