As the weather starts to turn cooler we are looking forward to wearing this jacket made from crafter pack 🧡

The Craft Packs are a lucky dip of what you will receive, which is such an exciting prospect!

When we pulled these pieces from the pack, there were a variety of colours which looked like a combination of the Textured Throw in Natural, Herringbone Throw in Ginger and Smith’s Lane Blanket in Watermelon Check.

Simplcitiy 9896 came to mind as an option as a base for this project for the panelling

For the construction of the jacket, we needed some extra fabric, so we spent some time considering what would be a suitable mix with this stunning material from Waverley Mills. We came across an old cream blanket that blended well with the colours from the Craft pack and was also 100% wool for the lower panel.

See more details about this make on our blog at https://twosewingsisters.com/sewing-project/waverley-mill-craft-pack-in-simplicity-9896

When the fabric does all of the work 🩵 Sometimes we see fabric that we know needs to be part of lives, and this cornflower blue georgette was exactly that!

A ruffled georgette, strapless dress may be something that only get worn every now and then... but we've worn this dress twice this month already! ✨️

Fabric: Delphinium 3D Stitched Georgette purchased from - This colour looks like it is out of stock, but they have a navy version available!

Valentines Dress ❤️

We were thrilled to be part of the pattern testing team for this new release by 🪡 As soon as we saw the line art we instantly fell in love with the under bust shape and curved skirt pieces!

Due to our bust size we needed to add length to the bodice between the bust point and neck to make sure the bodice shape sat correctly under the bust - otherwise no other fit notes. It would be worth doing a toile of the bodice to make sure the bodice sits correctly (regardless of your bust size) 🙂

This was a really fun dress to sew and comfortable to wear 🌟🌟 We can't wait to make another version, maybe the top in linen?

Pattern: Valentines Dress by provided as part of the pattern test

Bridesmaids 💚 Our sewing for the wedding wasn't just focused on Erin, it also included outfits for our family and bridal party!

When we were looking for the fabric for the bridesmaids dresses we collected samples from SO MANY fabric stores - we ended up with a large collection of different colours, textures and patterns.

When this Metallic Burnout Brocade arrived all the way from we knew it was the one! The Metallic was beautiful in the sunshine, and floral motif suited the 'floral forward' theme of the wedding 💐

Due to the sheer sections of organza, we wanted to find a fabric that complimented but didn't contrast with the main fabric. We ended up with a Shantung in Forrest also from (there is also a cotton poplin lining to make it super comfortable!) 🪡

While all the skirts (including zipper pockets) are the same on each dress, each dress featured a different pattern which was selected by each person ✨️

Fabric: Purchased from
Patterns (for bodices): Vogue 1902, Vogue 9335 and Butterick 6556

Getting ready for the wedding 🥂

We received our wonderful photos from the wedding last year and we wanted to share some of our other projects we made from the wedding!

We wanted our outfits to get ready in to be soft, breathable and cool. We also were wanted them to be a cute set that could also be reworn many times after the wedding 💚

We had settled on the idea of brodier anglaise, a cotton based fabric with embroidered motifs across the surface - and had the perfect colour!

McCall's 8563 provided the perfect balance between a practical design that wouldn't mess up our hair and makeup - and cute design features like the ruffle and front ties 🪡

Fabric: Twisted Vines Brodier Anglaise in foliage purchased by
Pattern: McCalls 8563

Flashback to 2016 ✨️ We had to jump on this trend 🙈

The year was 2016. We hadn't officially started Two Sewing Sisters yet, that would come shortly afterwards. We were sewing a lot - mostly fit and flare dresses (as you will see from the photos!)

Lauren was working for and dressing for shows at the Regent Theatre.
Erin was still at University.

Our matching Christmas outfits were maroon, and we entered the Lace Cut Out competition by

We were involved in raising money by wearing frocks for the - and were featured in the Hearld Sun talking about our sewing and Frocktober.
