Not long now. For those of you coming to Bendigo this Friday through to Sunday for the Sheep and Wool Show I’ll be the Flower Shed, marked red on the map. Over the last few weeks I have sewn over 1100 individual buttons to cards so there’s lots of new stock!! Remember if you’re looking for buttons, it helps to have the garment or a swatch with you. Looking forward to seeing all your amazing creations and finding buttons to compliment them.

The results of a collaboration with my daughter to reduce the amount of “mystery mixes” in the studio. After creating I’m left with small amounts of “offcuts” that can be mixed with other project offcuts to create larger workable size pieces, effectively new colours that cannot be repeated, hence mystery mixes!! She chose the colour combinations and I tried different techniques to get the best results. Picture 3 shows buttons made from the offcuts of picture 2. Picture 5 shows those made from offcuts from picture 4. The versatility of this medium is really exciting. Buttons made of offcuts from offcuts!!!!

A change of pace for me this weekend. I’m part of this annual event in what is an amazing building. I will have my handmade buttons and a small array of other buttons for sale. Being Mother’s Day weekend I will also have some of my handmade earrings and jewellery for those last minute gifts. My main focus will be a display of various types of buttons from the 1800’s through to the present day. Great day out if you’re looking for something to do this weekend.
