Four finished fingerless gloves = two happy girls! 🧤👧🏼🧤👧🏼

I bought two mini skeins of sparkly Jokamamo: Hand-dyed Yarns yarn at the Australian Yarn Show earliAustralian Yarn Show my girls the option to either use the yarn to practice crocheting or I could make something small for them. They asked me to make fingerless gloves 🧤😊

After a few mediocre prototypes, we finally decided on a final design and size that we were happy with. I also found a tutorial for the elastic ribbing by Andrea Crețu - Yarnandy anAndrea Crețu - Yarnandy thing ever 🙌

YAY! A finished object! 🙌

I’m embarrassed to admit how long it took to finish this sweater project… 2 years! 🫣 It spent most of that time sitting in blocked pieces that just needed to be sewn together 🤪 Luckily, it still fits her! 😅

Sienna gave me the push to finally finish her sweater and even helped me sew up the pieces. She’s going to feel so proud when she wears it, knowing that she helped make it! 🥰

I’m also embarrassed to admit that I haven’t finished the pattern for this design… even though I’ve already graded and written most of it 🙈 Part of the reason this sweater sat in pieces for so long was because I had thoughts of recording a video tutorial on how to sew it all together. I tend to get stuck on less enjoyable crochet designer tasks unless I have a push to do them.

So who’s going to push me to finally finish the pattern for this kid-size sweater?? 😜

Hello! 👋 I’d like to introduce myself to those of you who might be new to my account.

My name is Kelly and I’m passionate about Tunisian crochet. I started my crochet business five years ago, and while my focus has shifted over the years, it’s mostly been on designing and tech editing. Earlier this year, the business took a back seat as we adjusted to our new schedule. My youngest daughter started kindergarten and I picked up a third day of engineering work per week. We’re still juggling work, school, and activities, but life feels more settled now, and I’m eager to get back to my crochet business! 🧶

I’ve created several designs that I’d love to write patterns for, and I have loads more ideas to start. Blankets used to be my favourite, but I’ve been enjoying experimenting with garments lately. 👚

I’ve done some tech editing recently, and I’d be happy to do a bit more. I prefer working with experienced designers, especially for book projects. I love editing squares, mandalas, blankets, accessories, and more.

This might be the trickiest thing I’ve ever made with Tunisian crochet…
☑️ Black yarn
☑️ Held double with black thread
☑️ Sequins (threaded on and individually placed)
☑️ Cables
☑️ In the round with a connecting stitch

Luckily, there’s no shaping… yet 😉😅 I’m working from the bottom up so I’ll have to split for armholes at some point and shape the upper part of the top, but I’ll figure that out later 😜

This is going to be my dragon scale armour. Inspired by my favourite romantasy, Fourth Wing by . The design includes a braided cable down the spine (would have been awesome if I could have faded it to silver at the bottom! 😆). The green sequins are for Teine’s scales, placed within my version of smock stitch which I think represents dragon scales very nicely. So excited about this project! 🐉🤩

How has it already been 4 weeks since the Australian Yarn Show?! I’m still thinking about what a wonderful weekend it was. I loved catching up with friends, watching presentations, and shopping at the yarn market. The community dinner on Saturday night was also lovely… I won one of the lucky door prizes! An amazing hamper with lots of yummy goodies 😋
