Naidoc week 2026 🖤💛❤️

This year looked different than any other year I have ever had in my small business. My whole world turned upside down within 24hours I had gone from a happy, fully functioning human to someone who needed everyone around me to function and just get through each day. I was saddened that my busiest time of the year would have to look a little different than what I had envisioned!! 😔

You never know who will show up for you until you can no longer show up for yourself… and man did my family show up! While I write this I shed a tear, not because I am sad but because I am so blessed that my amazing kids and husband all pulled together and helped triple time!! They are my most precious people in my life. 💜

To my husband who has done 6 markets, many early morning starts, endless driving, setups and all those smiles and yarns to all our customer. You sir are my true hero, the way you show up for me and have my back is truly everything. I love you beyond words and always remember, one day all of this hard work will pay off when we are sitting on an island drinking cocktails. 🫶🏽💛

My beautiful oldest daughter, flew up to iron bridge with all my stock and did her first full setup market on her own. This required her to leave her babies and husband behind and I will be forever grateful that she did this for me. Also going and being with her dad at the Naidoc market to keep him company. I love you baby mumma is so so sooo blessed to have you. 💞

To my boy who attended a few markets to help his dad, and on days his dad wasn’t home he was looking after me. I love that at 13 you want to help your family and do what you can. Love you mate. 🫶🏽

To my moo for holding the fort down at home when dad was busy, and mum couldn’t get out of bed. You help wherever you can and mumma loves you always. 🧡

To my customers, organisers and mob businesses thank you for such an amazing Naidoc week. Even though I didn’t get to see anyone or attend any events I am so thankful to each and every one of you. 🖤💛❤️

Naidoc next year will be even bigger and better 🧡

It’s official, my granddaughter is running the business 🤣 🤣

I wish….. if only she was a little bit older… 🤔

I can see her as she grows up learning all the tricks of the trade. And helping her ma. She loves to sit at my table when she comes over. 💞

Naidoc week is nearly here. Check out where you will find my small business. 💜 I sadly won’t be there as I am still unable to stand for longer than 5mins. 😔 However my amazing husband, son and oldest daughter will be carrying the load. I am so grateful and blessed to have my family help 🖤💛❤️

Come along and celebrate with us, there will be lots of things to do, many blak owned businesses to shop with. Naidoc week is a week to come together as a community and share culture, yarns and community connections. ☺️🫶🏽

I’m the one that is used to giving to others, not so good at receiving stuff… so when people do beautiful, kind, thoughtful things for me it truly means the world 💛

Happy Thursday, I hope you all are well and smiling. Today I built up enough strength to fulfil one of my Naidoc orders. ☺️

Working looks a little different right now, but I’m improvising the best way I can. An order that normally takes me 30mins to sort took me over 2 hours. I get fatigued very quickly and can’t sit up, but I got it done that’s a win for me. 💛

This order is off to a local primary school ready for Naidoc week. 🖤💛❤️

Happy Sunday a quick update as I know so many have been worried. 🫶🏽

This is my beautiful grandson and the last time I felt normal and alive. It’s been a rough 4 weeks of being bed bound and only getting out for hospital visits. I will unfortunately be sick for many more months and this is the moment i need to start figuring out what life looks like for the next 3-6 months. 😔

I don’t want to shut the business but with only being able to manage being upright for 5 mins is hard to keep it going. I don’t have enough stock to get through my busiest time of the year. So if you’re needing something for Naidoc week I would reach out now as once stock is gone it’s gone. 🫶🏽 luckily my husband and daughters will help out with markets I have booked, but with limited stock I may have to cancel a few. 🥺

My husband has become my full time carer, my daughters have been helping with showers and hair washing. I feel totally helpless and for me relying on others is so hard. But I have no choice my body literally is not letting me do a thing. I even have to eat lying down…. It’s not fun, the pain level everyday is so bad and no amount of pain killers work. 😣 my bedroom is my hospital room, the kids come eat dinner on my bed every night so we still feel together. It’s testing my mental health and I must say I am not doing to well with it all! 🥲

Update on my health. Well it’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions lately. Still haven’t fully gotten to the bottom of it, however we have some answers. What I thought was a migraine was not!!! I have a brain/spinal leak.. I know much worse than a migraine. But now I am in RPH and being looked after by the amazing staff. 🫶🏽

My husband had flown back to work as I was sure I couldn’t get any worse, well boy was I wrong, luckily he works for an amazing company and they drove him to Karratha to get home yesterday late. To my daughters who have come in to shower me, brush my hair and just sit at the end of my bed keeping me company I love you endlessly. To my husband who has had to drop everything and do everything I love you more than words can say. To my work colleagues/friends continually messaging everyday to check in I appreciate you. To my customers who have been understanding and supportive thank you. I have many outstanding orders and emails so I appreciate you all waiting patiently. 🥹

This has been a journey and one that if I didn’t advocate for myself I would have kept being left to suffer. So please listen to your body and speak up. You know yourself better than anyone! 💜
