Today I have been dragging my 👣 I’m just a tiny bit tired 🥱 after Midland NAIDOC on Tuesday and then the Dept of Communities NAIDOC in Kambarang, in Freo yesterday. I have only just managed to fold a basket of washing from 3 days ago 🤦🏽‍♀️😆 No sewing has been done today, but I wanted to share the other “box bags” I made from sports shirts. The original use for them were to be shoe/boot bags but of course can be used for anything! I think my favourite finished bag is the Bronco’s bag.
Which sports shirt would you cut up to make a box bag?

Looks like October is going to be a busy month. I have committed to 7 events spread out over the month, starting with Midland NAIDOC on Tuesday, 6 October. In preparation I have been busy sewing and typically I like to try something new… I have a few table runners that I’ve had for a long time now, today I decided to try something with one of them, let me know what you think 🤔 I think it’s cute 💛😉

Now that I have finally caught up with all my orders, thank you all again for your patience 🥰
I can share what one of those orders was.
Two gorgeous people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, since starting “Buy by Brenda”, approached me to see if I might be up for a bit of a challenge 🤔 I was! 💪🏽
The challenge which was to transform shirts into bags, not just any bag, a bag that would be used for for (soccer/footy) boots so… “boot bags” 👟 but of course, could be used for absolutely anything.
I gave it a go! Rather than start with one of their shirts, in case I made a mess of it, I used one of Brian‘s old Docker shirts. ⚓️ It turned out pretty good but I didn’t feel like it was structured or strong enough with just cotton fabric as the lining, so I used some stronger thicker fabric to line in the commissioned bags. 💼
Unfortunately I didn’t take many photos (I was too busy 🤦🏽‍♀️). To give you an idea, the first photo is of Brian wearing the shirt I used to make the sample bag, followed by pics of the Docker bag. The next lot of photos are from 2 Tottenham shirts cut up to make into one of the commissioned bags. My customers chose which logos and artwork, etc to be used on the bags. 👌🏽
It’s a fantastic use of shirts no longer being worn and instead of being stored in a cupboard or making their way to landfill ♻️

I hope you’re all well 🥰
It’s been a while since I’ve been on, so much has been happening. I was sooo busy over NAIDOC Week and after, going to a few events, I loved every minute of it and wished I could’ve gone to more. Problem is, I couldn’t keep up. There were days when I almost sold out, which was great! At least I had the sense to space my events out, so I could sew in between. I know now for next year 😉🖤💛❤️

To all the market mob, I love sharing space with you all, it’s a real treat for me to have the opportunity to get to know you all. You’re all so very talented at what you do and so, so supportive of each other! It’s a fabulous community to be a part of 💜

Right now, I am working through orders for some very patient people, you know who you are, I’m sorry, I promise I am getting through them 🤷🏽‍♀️

Early start today after a successful day at the NAIDOC Perth Opening Ceremony. From what I’ve seen and heard it was a fabulous celebration of culture 🙌🏽
With three events to go for me this week, I need to get a move on and create more bags and accessories for my stall, it’s a good problem to have 😉 I’ve decided, I’m going to be teaching my granddaughter to sew… it doesn’t seem to be taught in schools the way it was back in my school days, or maybe it is, I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️
Thanks to everyone who came by my stall and had a chat, thank you for the happy positive vibes you all brought my way. Sorry I didn’t get around to say hi 👋🏽 to everyone, there’s so many mob I wanted to catch up with, so hopefully over the week I’ll have that opportunity.
Anyway happy NAIDOC everyone 🖤💛❤️
