A reminder to all our lovely members that stocktake is coming up at the end of the month💪🏻

It's a BIG job and since we are a volunteer run community organisation, we need everyone to chip in where they can😀

Dear Members,

We need your help to clean, count and organise our amazing toys!

Stocktake is on 31st October 9am to 5pm and snacks, tea and coffee will be provided to keep our spirits and energy up🙌🏻

Unfortunately, due to safety concerns children cannot attend with you like they would for normal duty days.

✍️Please add your availability to the spreadsheet which you can find on the WhatsApp group. If you are unavailable to come in on the day to help, please DM Lauren to be designated costumes/puzzles/games to take home, clean, count and number.

Please note:

ALL TOYS (except costumes) must be returned by 24th October.🎳

🚫There will be NO BORROWING on Wednesday 21st and Saturday 24th October, we will be open but for returns only.

Please reach out if you have any further questions.

💥Toy library will be open for borrowing again on 4th November🌈

🌞Our opening hours are every Saturday morning (except for weekends with a public holiday) and every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, 9:30- 11:00am.

🌟 Meet Our President – Neroli Burge 🌟

We’d love to introduce you to Neroli Burge, President of the Kardinya Toy Library Committee 🧸💛

Neroli joined the Toy Library in 2019 when her son, Nate, was just one year old. What began as a way to give Nate access to a wider variety of toys, puzzles and games, while reducing waste and saving money, soon grew into something much more.

Since joining the Committee of Management, Neroli has held both the Treasurer and Membership roles before stepping into her current position as President.

As President, Neroli chairs Committee meetings, helps guide the future direction of the Toy Library and supports the wonderful team of volunteers who help keep our Toy Library thriving.

For Neroli, volunteering is about being part of an awesome team that genuinely cares about children and giving back to the community. She describes her experience with the Toy Library as incredibly rewarding — and we’re so grateful to have her leadership, enthusiasm and commitment behind the scenes. 💕

Outside of the Toy Library, Neroli is mum to Nate, now 9, and is currently homeschooling him. She is an accountant by profession, although these days her focus is very much on family and education.

Thank you, Neroli, for everything you contribute to our Toy Library community! 🌈🧩🧸

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Junni! 🌟

For the past few months, Junni has been volunteering with Kardinya Toy Library after responding to our volunteer call-out through the City of Melville Volunteer Opportunities newsletter.

It quickly became clear that Junni’s skills, experience and availability were a wonderful match for our Toy Library. After a little on-the-job training, she quickly became a highly valued member of our volunteer team.

Junni is a retired grandmother of two who wanted to give back to the community where she raised her family. When her own children were little, she was working flat out, building an incredibly varied and successful career spanning medicine, IT and entrepreneurship, with plenty of international travel along the way.

Now that life is a little quieter, Junni has found a new way to channel her energy and experience. She loves being part of the Kardinya Toy Library team and, during her regular Wednesday morning volunteer shift, enjoys meeting new people and being part of our community.

Junni’s generous commitment also makes a real difference behind the scenes. By volunteering her time, she helps our committee make better use of their own time and resources as unpaid volunteers who are balancing work and family commitments.

From everyone at Kardinya Toy Library, a huge thank you to our champion volunteer, Junni! 💛
