🌟 Meet Our President – Neroli Burge 🌟

We’d love to introduce you to Neroli Burge, President of the Kardinya Toy Library Committee 🧸💛

Neroli joined the Toy Library in 2019 when her son, Nate, was just one year old. What began as a way to give Nate access to a wider variety of toys, puzzles and games, while reducing waste and saving money, soon grew into something much more.

Since joining the Committee of Management, Neroli has held both the Treasurer and Membership roles before stepping into her current position as President.

As President, Neroli chairs Committee meetings, helps guide the future direction of the Toy Library and supports the wonderful team of volunteers who help keep our Toy Library thriving.

For Neroli, volunteering is about being part of an awesome team that genuinely cares about children and giving back to the community. She describes her experience with the Toy Library as incredibly rewarding — and we’re so grateful to have her leadership, enthusiasm and commitment behind the scenes. 💕

Outside of the Toy Library, Neroli is mum to Nate, now 9, and is currently homeschooling him. She is an accountant by profession, although these days her focus is very much on family and education.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Junni! 🌟

For the past few months, Junni has been volunteering with Kardinya Toy Library after responding to our volunteer call-out through the City of Melville Volunteer Opportunities newsletter.

It quickly became clear that Junni’s skills, experience and availability were a wonderful match for our Toy Library. After a little on-the-job training, she quickly became a highly valued member of our volunteer team.

Junni is a retired grandmother of two who wanted to give back to the community where she raised her family. When her own children were little, she was working flat out, building an incredibly varied and successful career spanning medicine, IT and entrepreneurship, with plenty of international travel along the way.

Now that life is a little quieter, Junni has found a new way to channel her energy and experience. She loves being part of the Kardinya Toy Library team and, during her regular Wednesday morning volunteer shift, enjoys meeting new people and being part of our community.

Junni’s generous commitment also makes a real difference behind the scenes. By volunteering her time, she helps our committee make better use of their own time and resources as unpaid volunteers who are balancing work and family commitments.

📚🌿 A Storybook Adventure is coming to Petal & Play Learning! 🌿📚

We are so excited to be collaborating with local children’s author Jessica Ten Vaanholt at Children’s Book Author | Jessica Ten Vaanholt for a very special Book Week celebration at Kulungah-Myah! ✨

Jessica will be sharing an exclusive sneak peek reading of her brand new picture book, ahead of its official launch this September. Families will also have the opportunity to meet Jessica, chat about her books and purchase signed copies if they wish 📚

Step inside our Storybook Forest where imagination, nature and storytelling come together for a morning of hands-on discovery.
Children will be invited to become little storytellers, investigators and community helpers as they explore a world inspired by Jessica’s beautiful books. Expect woodland adventures, animal discoveries, creative making, sensory play, potion experiments and plenty of opportunities to let imaginations grow🌱

✨ Meet Jessica and enjoy a special author experience
🐾 Investigate mysterious animal tracks and discover who left the prints behind
🌿 Create nature-inspired artwork and collaborative masterpieces
🧪 Mix magical “helping paws” potions
🎨 Craft, create and play throughout our story-filled forest
Plus, children will take home their own handmade keepsake created during this very special Book Week event 💚

Whether your little one is a budding author, a curious explorer, or simply loves stories and animals, this is a morning they won’t want to miss!
