Steps
1. Thread 3 beads โ the bottom face base
Thread 3 cylinder beads onto the centre of your cord so you have equal length on each side. These 3 beads form the first row of the bottom face.
2. Add 1 bead โ cross over to form a square
Take 1 new bead. P
ass the LEFT end of the cord through it from left to right, and the RIGHT end through it from right to left.
Pull both ends firmly so the bead sits at the top, forming a diamond/square with your first 3 beads.
3. Add 1 bead on each end โ going up
Now thread 1 bead onto the LEFT end of the cord, and 1 bead onto the RIGHT end. These two beads become vertical edges rising up from the bottom face.
4. Add 1 bead โ cross over again
Thread 1 new bead.
Cross BOTH ends through it just like Step 2.
Pull tight. This bead becomes the top front edge of the cube, connecting the two vertical beads you just added.
5. Add 1 bead on each end โ back edges
Thread 1 bead on each end again.
These two beads are the back vertical edges of the cube. After adding them, thread 1 more bead on each end โ these are the two back horizontal edges of the top face.
6. Close the cube โ thread back through the first middle bead
Finally, bring BOTH ends of the cord through the very first middle bead from Step 1 (the centre bead of your original 3).
Pull tight to lock the cube closed. Trim the end.
(Tie a secure knot if cord)
Add your jump ring or loop for attaching to a keyring, chain, or earring hook!
-
12 beads total โ one on each edge of the cube:
4 beads = bottom face edges
4 beads = vertical side edges
4 beads = top face edges
Finishing as a charm:
Keyring โ add a jump ring through a top corner bead, attach to a split ring
Drop earring
Necklace pendant โ thread chain or cord through a top corner bead, or use a bail
Chain charm โ attach with a jump ring to any chain link
You can mix bead colors for different edges โ for example, one color for the vertical edges and another for the top and bottom faces
