Free Counselling Available to Individuals and Couples Through SARC
The Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, through its Directorate of Gender Affairs, is reminding the public that free professional counselling is available to women, men and couples through the Support and Referral Centre (SARC).
The confidential service assists people experiencing personal, emotional, interpersonal and relationship-related challenges. Couples can also receive support for communication difficulties and other forms of conflict, even where physical violence is not involved.
Deputy Executive Director Ashlea Ambris said the service provides a supportive environment in which people can confront challenges, strengthen their relationships and improve their emotional wellbeing.
“At the Support and Referral Centre, seeking support is a sign of strength, and our counselling services are available for both men and women, and couples,” Ambris said.
“Persons are able to address their challenges, strengthen their relationships and better communicate with each other, which all work towards healthier emotional wellbeing.”
She assured residents that the services are free and that no one should feel compelled to navigate a difficult situation alone.
SARC Counsellor Danielle Browne said counselling provides a compassionate and non-judgmental environment in which clients can openly explore their concerns.
“At the Support and Referral Centre, our focus is on creating a compassionate, confidential environment where clients feel empowered to build resilience, reclaim their identities, improve communication and foster healthier relationships,” Browne said.
She noted that receiving support is not only about overcoming immediate challenges but also creating pathways towards emotional wellness and stronger communities.
Anyone interested in accessing counselling or scheduling an appointment may contact the Directorate of Gender Affairs at 463-5555 or 462-39900.
The Directorate continues to offer programmes and services designed to support individuals and families, address gender-based violence and promote healthier and more equitable communities.
