Something we think about a lot at Birde: you can't really teach a kid to be curious. They already are. What they need is space to run with it; time and the freedom to ask "but why" as many times as they want.

Happy National Science Week to every little scientist out there testing gravity one dropped spoon at a time 🔬

19/08/2026

Toddlers are basically little scientists.

🥄 Drop the spoon. See what happens.
🥄🥄 Drop it again. Just to make they get the same result.
🧪 Mix two foods that definitely shouldn’t be mixed.
Throw something off the table and then look at you for the reaction…😮‍💨

They’re constantly experimenting and figuring out how the world works, usually without us even realising it.

Have you heard the saying "Every big idea starts as a small seed"?

Feels fitting for National Science Week, even our Seed holders live up to it. They are colourful on the outside and hold a whole world of imagination inside. Your little one's favourites, picked by them. 💛

We are parents too and we know sticky hands happen, and that many children love messy play.

Most children's audio players say avoid water. Ours doesn't. That's why you can rinse it off under the tap and let your little one get straight back to having fun, no waiting, no worrying.

We'd love to hear, what's the messiest thing your Birde has survived? 👇

Pairing audio with a read-along book encourages children to follow the words on the page as they listen. Adding finger tracking makes the experience even more interactive, helping children stay focused, keep their place, and connect spoken words with printed text.

It's a simple activity that can make story time even more engaging. 💛

Do your little ones enjoy following along with their finger?

We want every family to get the most out of their Birde. 💛

One thing we've noticed is that the families who use their Birde the most don't stick to the same Seed or Book every day. Instead, they keep a rotation of favourites they swap depending on the moment; playtime, quiet time, car trips or bedtime.

Swipe through to see a simple rotation that many Birde families love.

We'd love to know, which Seed or Book is getting the most play in your house at the moment? 👇

Some afternoons the screen-free plan works perfectly. Other afternoons we're standing in the kitchen at 4:30pm wondering how we'll make it to dinner without a screen appearing.

These are the five things we actually reach for on the harder days, not because they're clever or Pinterest-perfect, but because they buy us real time and the kids don't even notice they're "activities."
A bushwalk where they lead the way.
Playdough and a rolling pin.
Water "painting" on the driveway that disappears in the sun.
On the days we need my hands properly free, listening to an audiobook has become part of the rotation too, no screens, just the story and book.

Check out the last slide though, that one's honestly for you as much as it is for them. 🌿

If you've got a go-to that isn't on this list, we'd love to hear it in the comments, we are always looking for one more option for the next hard afternoon.
