Which do you prefer? Pretty or practical?
I am choosing both.
I used to sew my tote bag straps only at the top of the bag. And even though I reinforced them over and over again, sewing back and forth multiple times in different spots, they still were not strong enough for real life use.
After carrying heavy items for a while, one of the handles broke. 😢
So I changed the way I make tote bags 🧵
Now the straps run all the way down the sides of the bag for extra strength and structure. I sew them securely into the bottom seams, stitch them to the front and back panels and reinforce the top with an X so the weight is distributed properly.
I want my bags to not only be beautiful but durable enough to actually be used every day.
Handmade means consistently learning, improving and making things better and this change has made such a difference 💙
