Lockdown is hard. Being a parent in lockdown is hard. Being a working parent during lockdown is hard. Being a “stay at home” parent during lockdown is hard. Homeschooling during lockdown is hard.
Being a parent was already hard. In normal circumstances we had many tasks, goals, places to be, people to see, etc that balanced out our day, with work, our children, our social lives, our “me time”, our house work, and the list goes on. Lockdown is 24/7 of the same *% #@ day in, day out. If all that you accomplish today is keeping your children alive, then you are doing an incredible job. If all you did for yourself today was have a shower then give yourself a pat on the back. (If a shower was not even a “luxury” that you could afford yourself some time for today, I. SEE. YOU.) Some days in lockdown that is all that we can physically and mentally do. Other days in lockdown we accomplish more. We have certain tasks to carry out throughout the day to make the time go quicker. If today is not that day for you, that’s okay. You’re not alone. Give yourself grace. Give your children grace. This time in our lives will pass.
This is not forever. It may seem like it right now and there are so many of us out there thinking the same, but just know that slowly but surely we will get back to normal. Our schedule will shift back in place. Slowly but surely, day by day, we will get there. This is a judgement free zone. Whether or not you ticked off 22 things on your to-do list today and felt happy and accomplished or if you literally woke up and survival mode was the only thing on your mind all day (👋🏼), you are doing an amazing job. Keep going. It’s hard, it sucks, but it will pass. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
