I genuinely am thankful that I have a creative mind but there are some sides to it that I could do without 🌀

I’m very fortunate to have a dedicated sewing studio space out in the world for customers to browse in and try on my handmade clothing, while I work.

The only downside is that my ‘organised chaos’ is then on full display.

I absolutely love my customers who come in and bond with me in the notion of studios being ‘working spaces‘, as in spaces where ideas come to life and things are created, so it’s only natural for tools and materials to be out on the workbench and projects to be in progress.

Those are my king of people 💖

P.S. My studio isn’t just a black hole of things. I CAN actually tell you where 99% of things are 😎

Here’s a boring update that no one asked for 😆 I keep all my fabric and thread scraps when I’m making (yes, including the thread ends that I snip off the ends of seams).

If the scraps are large enough, they sometimes become coin purses or scrunchies or they hang around for another use to come along.

If they’re tiny like trimmings and threads they’ll get used for filling in crafts like Christmas decorations.

To date I’ve been storing all of it in bags and poking them in places around my studio but that became too unmanageable. I acquired some second hand plastic tubs and roughly sorted the scraps into two tubs of teeny tiny pieces and larger pieces.

I’m really pleased with the result! I have a clearer picture of what scraps I have AND the tubs store nicely under my sewing table.

Anyway, there’s a boring insight into maker life that you weren’t expecting 💖

Have you had any wins lately that would be considered boring to others? I’d love to hear about it.

Thursday truth bombs 💣💥 I’m so grateful for all the love I receive in my videos and posts. It’s actually really motivating and validating so please do continue!

HOWEVER the time it takes to film a making process then edit it into a short video with text, voiceovers and captions?! I can’t even begin to tell you how long this takes.

So whenever I see that someone has shared a process video of their own, I’m liking and even commenting and sharing because I know what would’ve gone into that one short video.

Sewing is a super power but sharing process videos is a labour of love 👏💪💖

Yes, I finished the dress! Yesterday, I went to a beautiful wedding and got to wear my stunning coffee coloured lurex dress that I managed to whip up in about 3 days.

I’m so grateful for the encouragement and faith you all had in me to get it done! 🫣😍

Here’s the fit details:
✨ Fabric: Espresso lurex and mesh lining from
✨ Pattern: McCall’s M8142
✨ Earrings: Droplet dangles from
✨ Shoes: Jerry slingback pumps from

Such fun making for such a lovely day. Thanks for sharing the journey with me!

The fit is right, the fabric is divine but, no, I have not yet cut into the “good fabric!” 🫠 Will I get this dress finished in time for the wedding I’m going to?!

There’s definitely art in the craft of sewing ✂️🧵🪡
I get sew much joy from folks buying and enjoying my handmade items. Being able to share my art with the world is a gift.

Are you an artist? Tell me in the comments what your art or craft is and where we can find you 💖

✨ GRATEFUL ✨ Last Sunday on International Women’s Day, I held a clothing drive for at the Timbermill.

Well, look at all these donations that came in! My studio is full of bags and bags of women’s workwear donations, some that were even posted to me .inherpower

This not-for-profit organisation and I are so grateful to the generous women who were able to answer the call for unwanted business attire. It will certainly go to a good home of deserving women who are re-entering the workforce to give them back their power and independence.

The 2026 IWD theme was and our community certainly gains when women support women! This brings me so much joy 💖

Again, thank you! I’ll be dropping the donations into my local Dress for Success branch this week. Until next year ✌️

Eliza.

Are you a beginner sewer who’d like to up their knits sewing game or maybe you’re looking to refine your basic skills a bit? Join me for a 3 week course to learn the basics of sewing with knit and stretch fabrics.

Part of your fundamental sewing knowledge should include techniques for sewing with knit and stretch fabrics. You’ll be surprised just how often your home sewing projects and clothes will call for a knit fabric!

No sewing machine? No problem, you can borrow one of mine for the course. While you don’t need your own sewing machine, you do need basic skills on how to operate one as this won’t be taught in the course.

This beginner course starts this Thursday night at the Timbermill in Bulli. Tickets are selling so get in quick!

Click this link to book your ticket and please reach out if you have any questions. I’d be super grateful if you’d also share this around with your friends who might be interested 🙂
