UNESCO has officially recognised the Tangail sharee weaving industry as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. The decision was made at the 20th session of the UNESCO 2003 Convention, marking Bangladesh’s sixth inscription under this convention.

The Tangail sharee, known for its beautiful and delicate craftsmanship, has earned international honour through the hard work of our weavers. We dedicate this achievement to all the weavers and women of Bangladesh.

This recognition brings great pride to our country and strengthens our efforts to protect Bangladesh’s cultural heritage. It is a tribute to the skill and dedication of Tangail’s weavers, who have kept this tradition alive for more than centuries.
