Language is not only a tool for communication; it is also a part of our identity, culture, and history. However, many languages are disappearing every year. When a language dies, a part of culture and tradition is lost.
To honor language martyrs who lost their lives to protect their mother tangue Bangla in 21st February 1952, 21st February became known as Shaheed Dibosh in Bangladesh. Later, UNESCO officially declared it International Mother Language Day in 1999 to recognize the importance of preserving all mother languages across the world.
Therefore, this day reminds us to respect all languages and protect our own mother tongue.
