About Us

Over 30 years in the making, Cameleon has revolutionised the way we shop discount designer fashion.

With a history that spans back to 1988, Cameleon has maintained a concept that balances a love of style with a responsibility to the environment. Founded by Jean-Cédric Van der Belen, the idea behind Cameleon was simple. Selling via word of mouth and basic text message, the entrepreneur used his access to designer branded stock and sold it at a discounted price to those in the know. This member’s only concept is one that still works for the business today.

Gaining hype within the industry and with fashion lovers throughout Belgium, the Cameleon brand was destined to grow. From a small, yet highly recognised business, Cameleon went on to open 2 large locations, Woluwe and Genval, making it possible to greatly expand the brand’s retail offering. These two locations continue to serve the Cameleon customers, packed with women’s, men’s, kid’s and homeware designer goods at prices up to 60% below their regular RRP in-store prices.

When 2009 brought the Woluwe store opening, Cameleon was able to share with its loyal customers Europe’s first-ever eco store. Going on to win prizes both locally and internationally for its commitment and innovation when it comes to building and running an environmentally-friendly retail space, the store continues to evolve and improve. From the initial design, the environment was a focus for the Woluwe Cameleon store. Eco ideas were integrated into each stage of the process. From replanting 1200 trees to offset the use of locally sourced wood to using only natural, solvent-free products during construction and including a natural ventilation system throughout the location, the build was committed to being as green as possible.

With friendly and open-plan cafeterias and stunning eco-friendly outdoor terraces to enjoy, alongside crèche space for its member’s children, Cameleon is in every way a family-friendly shopping experience. Created to offer designer fashion at greatly discounted prices for the whole family, the shopping locations offer a member’s only, exclusive and immersive experience that combines Cameleon’s love and passion for style with its deep-rooted commitment to eco-friendly retailing.
