Today Ethiopia was buzzing with celebrations for the 126th anniversary of its Decisive Victory against Italy at the Battle of Adwa.

The Italo-Ethiopian War was the first African victory over a colonial power. Led by King Menelik II, the Victory is remembered as a catalyst for many African countries to overthrow their invaders and regain their independence.

Government offices, post offices, schools and banks were all closed for the holiday, and the people took to the streets for a Celebration in Ethiopia's Capital City, Addis Ababa.

Bermuda, the Carribbean and South America are not the only places that have an annual carnival!

The Luanda Carnival in Angola starts on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday every year, but the celebrations begin on the Friday. It is a huge event for the African nation, the people dress in vibrant, amazing costumes showcasing the colors of the Angolan flag and take to the streets celebrate.

The streets buzz with food stands serving traditional foods, parades and events where groups compete for the grand prize, and even events for children!
