✨ Meet Our New Volunteer! ✨

We're so excited to welcome our new volunteer Namrata Shah to the Philia Brant community. Along with sharing her passion for helping others, she's also created an amazing project called CoinSmarties to help children build healthy money habits from a young age.

Through fun, simple, and engaging videos, CoinSmarties teaches kids important life skills like:
💰 Saving money
🛍️ Spending wisely
⚖️ Understanding needs vs. wants
🌱 Building smart financial habits

At Philia Brant, we believe life skills go beyond sewing, and financial literacy is another wonderful skill that helps children grow into confident, independent adults.

She had never sewn before, but she joined our Pants Design Camp and created these amazing shorts that fit her perfectly! ✂️🧵

She learned how to use the sewing machine, follow a pattern, adjust the fit, and even added her own special detail at the hem. In 2 days only

It is incredible to see what beginners can create with the right guidance, patience, and creativity. We are so proud of her! 💛

No sewing experience is needed, just come ready to learn and create something you can actually wear! We love to see kids create, so proud of her ❤️

Philia Brant is looking for an experienced alterations support person to join our team in Brantford.

Position details:
• Flexible, part-time hours,work on Saturdays
• Starting pay: $18 per hour
• Must have previous experience completing clothing alterations
• Must be reliable, careful, and able to follow instructions
• Experience with hemming, taking garments in or out, replacing zippers, repairing clothing, and working with different fabrics is required

This position may be ideal for an experienced seamstress, tailor, fashion student, or someone looking for flexible additional hours.

Thank you so much to everyone who took a few minutes to leave us a review! 💛

Your feedback means so much to us. Customer experience is at the heart of everything we do, and your comments help us continue to improve.

Based on your feedback, we're making some exciting changes! Our Alterations Classes will now be 2 hours long giving everyone more time to learn and practice.

We'll also begin Lesson 2 by reviewing how to thread the sewing machine helping everyone feel more confident before moving on to the project.

Starting in September I'll also be sharing short sewing tutorial videos for those who are interested in learning but aren't able to afford classes right now. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn new skills, and I hope these videos will make sewing more accessible to our community.

Thank you for being part of the Philia Brant community and for helping us grow. Your feedback truly shapes the experience we create, and we're excited to continue improving every step of the way. 🧵✨

The feeling when you make your own skirt for the first time… ✨

You start the class thinking, “I hope I can do this.”

Then little by little, the fabric becomes something real. You learn, you make mistakes, you fix them, you keep going and then suddenly you’re holding something you made with your own hands.

That proud feeling is hard to explain, but every creative person knows it. 🧵

It’s not just a skirt. It’s confidence, patience, and proof that you can learn something new.
