My name is Cindy and I am the creative mastermind behind The Craft Shoppe Canada! I have said time and time again - there is nothing better than creating something with your own two hands. In a world where life is moving at super sonic speed, where we want instant gratification, where we live with our phones attached to our hands (hi, me!), the act of sitting down with a crochet project or a card

making kit forces us to put all of that nonsense into a time-out. For me, the crafty spark hit when I was in Gr.8. I remember sitting at a sewing machine and making a small tote bag for one of our class projects. I had never used a sewing machine before so when it all came together and looked like an actual tote bag (lol), I felt something light up inside. I felt pride that I actually made something with my own two hands. Fast forward to about 7 years ago, I was introduced to a pile of card stock to make handmade greeting cards and that sparked the idea of starting a handmade business. I wanted to create a community where everyone from the beginners to the seasoned crafters were given a reason to step away from the noise of the outside world. I wanted to give people an opportunity to try something new, learn how to crochet, fall in love with fabric and to feel "that feeling" of giving someone a gift that you made. My goal is to take over the world with one kit, one card and one ball of yarn at a time. Life is infinitely better that way!

Out of 96 Advent Calendars, only 6 are left! I still can’t believe it but I’m incredibly grateful at the same time!

Inside each kit are 24 individually wrapped card making kits to stay busy with during the Advent season. However, a few people have messaged me telling me they have already opened up their kits 😂

I’ve had an idea cooking around in my head for a while now and today I’m finally starting to put it all together.

It’s still very much in the “playing around with paper” stage, but I’m pretty excited about this one. The only thing I’ll share for now is that it’s going to be a seasonal kit.

Here’s your first little sneak peek with more to come as I start putting it all together!

If anyone wants to hazard a guess, I’m interested in what you think this could turn into…

A little U.S. shipping update!

Unfortunately, the tariff agreement between Canada and the U.S. was not finalized. With the latest changes, some of the products I use in my cross stitch kits are now subject to tariffs of up to 50%, on top of tariffs already in place.

Because of this, I’m unable to ship them to the U.S. for the time being.

The good news? My American friends can still get crafty! My crochet and card making kits are not affected and will continue to ship to the U.S. as usual.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Pretty soon, we’ll be staring at 3 empty bedrooms…no, I’m not ok!

For so many years, life revolves around raising kids including school lunches, practices, appointments, laundry, schedules and approximately 47 people asking you where something is.

And then one day, things get quieter.

There’s a lot of talk about the sadness that can come with an empty nest, but what about the other side of it? The part where you get to rediscover you?

What do you enjoy? What have you always wanted to try? What parts of yourself got tucked away while you were busy taking care of everyone else?

This next chapter doesn’t have to be about figuring it all out overnight. Maybe it’s simply about getting curious again. Trying something new. Picking up an old hobby. Taking the trip. Making plans with friends.

I wrote a blog post about finding yourself again and embracing what comes next.

Last night, I was working on a crochet design, and the thing about crochet and knitting is that your arms, wrists and hands are always moving.

At one point, I heard a little “ping” from my smartwatch. When I looked down, it was congratulating me for completing my exercise goal for the day.

Except…I wasn’t exercising. At all. My behind was firmly parked on the couch. 😂

So I’m guessing all that hand and wrist movement from crocheting convinced my watch that I was getting a workout in.

Hot tip: If you need to close your exercise ring or sneak in a little extra activity, apparently all you need is a crochet hook and some yarn.

Ok, I’m officially done with summer. Well, I’ve been done since early July but now it’s official 😉

I’m craving sweaters, falling leaves, cozy blankets and a crochet project to work on. Anyone else?
