❤️ IN LOVING MEMORY OF JAY DOLAN ❤️

Pembroke lost a great guy this week. Jay was the heart behind Geek Fest Pembroke, and he brought a lot of fun, friendship and community to this town.

Tonight, Saturday, August 8, we want to do something to help the family he leaves behind.

Come down to Ashes Family Restaurant & Arcade and buy a Spider-Man Shot. 🕷️❤️💙 Proceeds from every Spider-Man Shot sold tonight will go directly to Jay’s family.

This isn’t about drinking for Jay — it’s about coming together, buying a shot and raising some money for his family when they need the support.

Come out, have some fun, share some memories and help us show Jay’s family how much this community cares.

I woke up to the terrible news that our good friend Jay Dolan had passed away last night at the Ottawa General. It's insane to me, because we literally just did GeekFest on Canada Day weekend which feels like yesterday. I am struggling to even find the right words for this post.

Jay was a wonderful guy who loved our community, and would do anything for anyone. I spoke with Jessica & Jay about us coming up with two scents to sell (it's all I know how to do to help) to raise money to help them out with some costs after we found out about his cancer. He loved Spiderman and cosplay and stuff like that, so we talked about a (red) fruit punch scent called 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿, and a (blue) blue raspberry & vanilla scent called 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼. This was just two days ago we were discussing it and I ordered what I needed but Jay just couldn't hold on... But I am still sticking to my plan, I want to see if I can raise ANYTHING at all to pass on to Jessica and their family to help in their terrible time. I have 10 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼 on hand at the moment, and 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 will be available next Sunday but I can take orders.

I'll be selling these locally only for $10 each. I can deliver, free. Not available in stores. Please message me to order, please share this post, and please see the comments for the link to a GoFundMe set up by Mr.Fry Guy that will close at the end of the week. I wish I could do more, but I'd love to start with this! Please help!

We are so heartbroken to hear of the news about Jay, our longtime friend. Locals will recognize this energetic fun fella from his days cooking at Nicks, and at Mr. Fry Guy (calling me across the food court to come try the gluten free poutine LOL). He also cosplayed at many local events, helped arrange Geekfest year after year, and was very active in our wonderful community. I personally have been friends with Jay & Jessica for so many years, I've lost count, and it is devastating to hear of what is happening. If you can donate to help with costs, please do. There is a link for a Go Fund Me account, as well as an etransfer link, and a donation jar at Mr. Fry Guy at the Pembroke Mall.

I've been in talks with Jessica, and my plan is to try to come up with a way to help with costs for whatever they may need. I am making 2 signature scents that I'll sell locally and 100% of anything I raise, I'll pass on to Jessica and Jay. Please help if you can, even if its just sharing this post. Jay is super important to us and I hope we can come together at this time to help!

Let's talk 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗽 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 🍎
This is a scent we featured last fall, and we sold out fast! I've brought it back as part of our fall lineup this year, and I decided to avoid AI and take a bank loan out to purchase REAL honeycrisp apples for this shot. It's quite the investment, and I'm not sure we may recover financially from it 😅😂 What makes this different than our 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 scent, is that it is less tart and more sweet, but both are a wonderful fruity scent that we know you'll love!
