Some of you self-proclaimed settlers who are fans really need to stop virtue signaling on our posts. While it is cool for non-Indigenous folks to wear what we make, it isn't made specifically for you. We design for Indigenous folks who grew up like we did without representation. And frankly, we don't really care about your political agenda with polyester, or water, or anything else because we have our own views and goals we are working towards. Ribbon is polyester. Bead thread is polyester. Pellon is a form of polyester. Synthetic roaches. Fringe. Gabardine. Embroidery. Numerous things that are essential to the continuation of Indigenous culture are synthetic. Did we do that? No. Was that imposed on us? Yes. Do we feel an obligation to respond to settlers about how we are responding to their personal political prerogatives while they are dressing us down on a phone made in China, on a social media platform that is building massive data centers around the world? No, we don't. It's usually an instant block. How about don't expect consistency from us if you're not practicing it yourself. Our merchandise is about representation, and we didn't create the entire sum of all trade that replaced our culture with synthetics in many forms. My husband said to me, if they're worried about the environment and water, "are they going to stop using toilet paper because it uses several gallons of water per roll to process? Do they not drive cars because they have tons of plastic in them now? Or is the convenience and privilege of replacing plastic just a burden Indigenous people are supposed to carry?" He's right. This selective outrage based on the latest non-Indigenous political trend is weird, colonial in imposition, and frankly nonsensical. We are doing our best, but we don't need your (settler) opinions or judgement in how we are doing it.

It's great to have personal goals. But stop holding us Indigenous people and businesses to higher standards than you hold yourself.

And I only say settler because three times in the last week a person with that in their profile did this same thing to us. They think they are being allies. But frankly it's just snobs acting better than.

So if you think straight men are being ignored then ask yourself why have they led us to this place. Because by and large it is 99% of lawmakers, leaders, and politicians who since colonization have been heterosexual men. They chose exclusion to elevate themselves time and time again. They chose to play the colonization game instead of protecting our true cultural values. They put themselves ahead of our matriarchs, ahead of our traditional leadership structures, ahead of our communal ways. And they chose exclusion.

Forgive me, but as a gay man during pride month, it's difficult to reconcile that juxtaposed to where I stand in my community. Outcast. Removed. And our traditional role completely forgotten. It wasn't us who made it that way. I'm not saying forget heterosexual men's health, but I am asking them to take a long hard look in the mirror and recognize that they have had the power since colonization began. And if they wasted that power, then their exclusion is largely a result of their own actions.

And that's all I have to say on the last say of Pride Month about that. Happy Pride Month! Keep fighting the good fight. And thank you for supporting our Two Spirit business.

Have you seen that shirt design that says "I'm more Native than I look." Uhhhh okay. We were thinking of making a shirt that says "I'm more white than I look." Then maybe I won't get stopped by security for extra scrutiny every time I'm at the airport.
