COVERT FEMME

This black satin ribbon skirt was created for a client’s Indigenous graduation ceremony as a meaningful piece to honour both her achievement and cultural expression.

Designed with intention and care, the skirt features flowing red, white and traditional bear printed satin ribbons that move beautifully with the body, symbolizing strength, resilience, and transition into a new chapter. Every detail was crafted to feel elegant, respectful, and celebratory for such an important milestone.

This gown was completely taken apart and reimagined from the inside out. I removed the crinoline and lining to reshape the silhouette into something more fitted and modern, then added a thigh-high slit to bring movement and edge to the design.

The bodice was detached, dyed a deep midnight blue, and carefully reattached to the skirt for a seamless transformation. I also removed the original zipper and installed a corset back to create an adjustable, sculpted fit that flatters and supports.

What started as a traditional prom gown is now a fully reworked, one-of-a-kind piece—refined, structured, and brought back to life through alteration and design.

My Spring Break project for my youngest son… he needed a new backpack.

But we couldn’t find anything he loved that was both good quality and affordable… and definitely nothing fun enough.

So, in true Covert style, I said what I always say…

A little bit ago I had a request from a friend. She wanted a traditional, but more formal looking ribbon skirt made for her daughter's Grade 12 Indigenous Graduation Ceremony.

This skirt is the very first piece that I have put my own designer label on.......and so, with that, I would like to introduce the very first piece from my custom formal wear line "Covert Femme Couture" ❤️

PS: Very soon I will be introducing/ posting pictures from my custom street wear line "Covert Mode" and my custom maternity and nursing line "Covert Momma"......... this is the big news that I have been holding out on for so long lol.

The MIL of one of my favorite clients called me up last week and asked me if I could turn a curtain panel she purchased from Costco, into curtain toppers for her kitchen and bathroom windows.
She is thrilled with how they turned out and fit the windows perfectly!
