The peacoat originated in the 18th century as a European sailor’s jacket, designed to be buttoned up from both directions so sailors could alternate the way their jackets buttoned up depending on which way the wind blew.

The Pea Jacket or Pea Coat (name originating from the Dutch word “pij” for a rough twill cloth) was adopted by the U.S. Military in the late 1800s, and is undeniably one of the most timeless jackets of all time, with motifs of it’s double breasted wool design showing up on the runway and on showroom floors season after season.

We are back on western campus… if you missed our last outdoor VOTB of the season, don’t worry as we’ll be continuing them inside on Western University campus in the UCC (Mustang Lounge).

Come join us for the day, before or after classes, and shop from thousands of vintage items including clothing, reworked clothing and accessories, jewelry, and second hand housewares and goods.
