It was woven by hand in Bolgatanga, Ghana.

Dyed with fermented river mud and natural plant extracts. The seed motifs along the borders speak to life and fertility. The hourglass symbols at the centre speak to balance and the passage of time.

Two full yards of intention. Of heritage. Of craft that has been passed down for centuries.

Meet Danica of Dreams of Africa (Dreams of Africa ). Her notebooks and beautiful African-inspired accessories are officially on shelves at Indigo in Erin Mills, Mississauga! 🎉

This is a young Black-owned business putting African textiles on a mainstream retail shelf, and I love seeing this.

A while back I gifted her some African material from my personal collection, and she surprised me by hand-making a custom notebook and pen just for me with it 🥹😍

Not part of her collection, just a genuine thank you from one entrepreneur to another 🥰

As a fellow entrepreneur in this space, community over competition will always be the EMPRESNG way. I went to see her collection in person and could not be prouder.
