Scotland will be my 16th country by bike!
Heading out mid-May. Supposedly that’s one of the drier times to ride… but it’s Scotland, so..
I’ll be landing in Glasgow and heading toward the Isle of Skye, where my family is from, which makes this trip feel even more personal. They arrived 6 generations ago!
A few years ago I spent a month cycling across Ireland, following my family history. We’re pretty disconnected from our European heritage over here so it was really special.
I’m looking forward to the castles, stone circles, scotch, sheep, and the kind of roads that make you slow down and look around.
IDEAS…..?
On one of my France rides, I spent time working at a biodynamic vineyard, and I’d love to do something similar here—maybe spend time helping at a distillery, learning more about sheep farming, or joining any hands-on local project along the way.
If anyone in Scotland has a connection to a farm, distillery, or interesting project I could visit or participate in, send it my way.
Where should i bike?
What should i check out?
