And just like that, summer is essentially over.
As we approach the end of August, we're also celebrating the beginning of Black Breastfeeding Week, August 25 - 31.
Now in its 10th year, Black Breastfeeding Week and its organizers have arguably done more to support and promote breastfeeding and chestfeeding in Black and Brown communities in a decade than some more well-known institutions have done in half a century.
From folks like Kiddada Green, founder and CEO of Black Mothers Breastfeeding Association, , to the work of , and truly countless others, it's time to shine a light on everyone driving conversations and reshaping the narrative around giving human milk.
In that spirit, I MUST share a film series and documentary I came across called Chocolate Milk by Director and Producer Elizabeth Bayne, .
I was captivated within 30 seconds. For the first time, ever, I saw women who looked like the women in my own family and community openly and proudly share their journey with breastfeeding. Hearing their words hits different, and frankly, we need more. I need more. But don't take my word for it. I encourage you all to check out this incredible series which can also be found on YouTube. https://youtu.be/DKh49uUr1Tk
