OKIB STRONG. Puti kʷu alaʔ — We Are Still Here. 🧡

This design was created in support of the Okanagan Indian Band community following the devastating wildfire and the families who have lost so much.

The artwork represents what this community has always shown — strength, resilience, connection to the land, and the ability to carry forward.

This piece brings together original artwork by Artist David Wilson, alongside new illustration created by us at Nation Party Collective for this fundraiser.

100% of the proceeds will go directly to OKIB.

The fundraiser design is pretty much complete!!

We’ll have the final details tomorrow from Sun Valley, and then we’ll be getting everything up on our online store too.

We really hope everyone likes it! This design is jam-packed with Artist David Wilson’s original artwork, along with some new illustration work done by us here at Nation Party Collective.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to OKIB.

A huge thank you to our friends at North Okanagan Apparel for jumping on board and making stickers for the fundraiser as well!

We will be working with Sun Valley Source For Sports on this. For locals there will be an order and pick up process at their store. They are happy to help us get this done and raise as much money as we possibly can for everyone in need.

For out of town people we will have a seperate link to our website where you can order and pay, as well as fill out your shipping information.

We are working on a logo for the fundraiser this weekend and also working on finding the right supplier. We will be transparent with where the funds are going to during this project. Our goal is to help out as many people in our community as possible. Please hold tight as it takes a bit to carefully design an original design for this.

We are also working with OKIB artist David Wilson to incorporate his art onto the design.

Today our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfire in the Okanagan.

So many families have lost their homes, their belongings, and years of memories.

As a small Indigenous-owned business, we’ve been asking ourselves how we can help in a meaningful way.

We’re thinking about creating a limited-edition fundraiser collection, with proceeds going directly toward supporting those impacted by the wildfire. This could include stickers, T-shirts, and hoodies.

Before we move forward, we wanted to ask our community:

Would this be something you’d support?

We’ve seen a wildfire support design being shared online, but rather than using artwork that isn’t ours, we’d much rather create an original design that represents our community with respect and authenticity.

If there’s enough interest, we’ll get to work immediately and keep everyone updated. Every purchase would help support families who need it most.

I know there is an Okanagan Strong logo that people have been sharing but since we did not create it, our designer would have to come up with an original logo to support the cause. Either than volunteering we believe this is the best way we can help out.

A STEPS Success Story featuring MNBC Citizen and STEPS student, Brian Caron.

“My success story began when I made the decision to transition from a career in the trades into graphic design. As a proud Métis entrepreneur, I wanted to combine my creativity, cultural knowledge, and community values to build a meaningful career while creating opportunities to give back.

Through education, training, and determination, I earned my Graphic and Web Design diploma and established myself as a designer through Caron Design Co. At the same time, I launched Nation Party Collective, a Métis-inspired apparel and art brand focused on celebrating Indigenous culture and community. Together, these ventures have allowed me to create meaningful work while building a sustainable career doing something I am passionate about.

Many of my designs incorporate Michif and Métis themes, highlighting our history, traditions, and identity through artwork, apparel, branding, and storytelling. My goal is to create designs that promote cultural awareness, representation, and pride while helping Indigenous businesses, organizations, and individuals share their stories.

The impact of this journey has extended beyond my own success. Through community events, cultural gatherings, and vendor markets, I have been able to promote Indigenous pride and representation while supporting youth sports programs and community initiatives through my business.

The growth of my business has also led to new opportunities, including being accepted as a vendor for the upcoming Back to Batoche Days. This opportunity is especially meaningful because Batoche is the homeland where my grandfather, Lionel Caron, was born and raised. Having the chance to share my Métis and Michif-inspired artwork in a place so deeply connected to my family's history is both an honour and a reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating our culture through art and storytelling.

This experience has given me confidence, purpose, and the opportunity to build a future rooted in creativity, culture, and community.”
