WIP Wednesday- working on this test knit for Chase Harpole | Knitting Patterns & Instructor ‘s Cabana Cardigan. First sleeve done, onto the next!

Yarn is a deadstock mystery wool/linen blend that I picked up from a British mill’s warehouse sale. They had no extra info for me so my best guess is a 10-15% linen content. Just enough to give it that slightly crisp hand of a plant fibre. It’s a very woolly wool too, almost feels like a rustic felted tweed type yarn. It arrived on cones in a deep charcoal grey and had a lot of lanolin to scour out. Then I had a lot of fun overdying it for this heathered effect.

I think this is going to be my new favorite summer piece! And the fact that it’s deadstock yarn in sustainable materials makes it that much more special.

Are you going to the Ontario Handspinning Seminar this June? SO AM I!! I'm bringing all my spinnable goodies for sale Friday and then staying for the whole weekend to attend the rest of the event. I am so excited to hang out with other spinners and level up my skills!

If you are coming and have any requests, let me know! I don't plan on bringing any hand dyed yarn for sale otherwise. And if you are hoping for a specific colour of combed top and I have that base in stock, I can dye it for you! Just shoot me a message. Combed top needs time to dry so please get your orders in before June 1st. This is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!

THANK YOU to all the very tenacious fibre nerds who made it out to Fergus today! My booth was only open for about 2hrs before the show was called short for safety with the pouring rain and windy weather. But yall made it so worthwhile even in the terrible circumstances. It was so great to see you all!!💜🥰

I’ve whipped up a secret little treat for those coming to my trunk show tomorrow 🤭

My debut at Knit City Toronto was SO MUCH FUN!! An incredible success, I am over the moon with how well it went. The event was so well organized it all went so smoothly. Thank you thank you to Fiona and the team. You made coming to the big city for a big fancy conference much less intimidating and stressful than I was anticipating. I learned so much from you!!

Meeting so many incredibly interesting enthusiastic people was my favorite part. I made so many new friends and got to talk at length and in depth about my favorite things and get inspired by everyone else who shares my passions. Truly the fuel that feeds my soul.

It was so fun to see my local Eastern Ontario friends stop by and say hi!! Love you guys!!

Special thanks to Jaye for all his help and hospitality this weekend. We made such a good team!! We were so on top of things it was like we had choreographed it, but I think that just comes down to Jaye’s superb skillset.

Now it’s time for me to drive my cute little trailer filled with much less wool from Guelph back to Perth and take a little breather before getting ready for the next show! I am so filled to the brim with satisfaction and inspiration I don’t even know what to do with it all!! 🥰
