Yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet Gleason. ❤️
Twenty years. It’s almost impossible to put that much love and life into a few words.
Gleason came into our lives in 2006 as a tiny little boy, alongside his sister. From the very beginning, he was quite simply one of the friendliest cats you could ever meet. Everyone was a potential friend, every visitor deserved a greeting, and there was always a lap somewhere that surely belonged to him.
But above everyone else, Gleason was Dave’s baby.
For 20 years, they had a bond that was uniquely theirs. Gleason trusted Dave completely, slept beside him night after night, and loved him with that quiet, uncomplicated devotion animals give us when they have chosen their person.
Yesterday, Dave held his boy close as we helped Gleason peacefully leave this life. Saying goodbye after 20 years was heartbreaking, but what an extraordinary gift those 20 years were.
And there is one thought that brings us some comfort.
Gleason’s sister left us in 2023. They came into our lives together as those two tiny kittens in the last photograph, and now we like to imagine that they are together once again, playing just as they did all those years ago. ❤️
Rest peacefully, sweet Gleason.
