Back in 2011, Darel Pennings needed a name for the company he was about to build. So he went looking for one word that meant exactly what he intended to deliver: without equal. Peerless. 👋

Fifteen years later, the name still sets the bar. Peerless Fine Homes has grown into an owner-operated team known across Southern Ontario for the projects most builders won't take on — full "roof-off" additions, major renovations, custom homes, workshops and garages.

And Darel still has his hands on every detail: the drawings, the permits, the selections, the schedule. It's why Peerless has earned a reputation for being organized, on time, and finished to a standard you can actually see.

Fifteen years in, we're finally pulling back the curtain to show you the craftsmanship behind the name.

A lakeside screened porch built for the whole season — beadboard ceiling, painted plank floors, and floor-to-ceiling screens that keep the view (and lose the bugs). Morning coffee, long dinners, sunsets from the deck above.

You'd never guess what this becomes. ☀️

It started here — concrete forms, bare trees, snow still on the ground. Just a footprint on the edge of the lake.

Poured foundation → framed and wrapped → and finished: a covered outdoor kitchen with a bar sink and built-in fridges, a full bath wrapped in classic subway tile, and a proper change room with a built-in bench and hooks, so wet feet never have to head inside.

One season to the next. Every detail chosen for how this family actually lives on the water — because that's the difference between a structure and a retreat.

Step inside the Greensville home.

Every corner holds a story.

A chef's kitchen anchored by a Cambria waterfall island, with a copper penny-tile backsplash that catches the light differently every hour of the day. Walnut-toned cabinetry, suspended herb planters, and a pot filler over the cooktop for the cook who actually cooks.

✨A stacked-stone fireplace runs floor to ceiling in the great room, grounding the space with weight and warmth. Above it, a black iron clock; below, three gold characters that bring something personal into a room built for gathering.
✨Down the hall, a spa-inspired primary bath wrapped in wave-textured walls, with a pebble mosaic floor that turns every morning into a small ritual. Twin vessel sinks, a deep soaker tub framed by koi-pond artwork, and a cedar sauna tucked just steps away.
✨The lower level opens into a retreat all its own — a suspended steel fireplace, a wet bar with burnt-orange stools, and a hallway gallery of art collected over a lifetime.

Every detail custom. Every space full of character. A home built to be admired and lived in.

They were already mid-build when it all went wrong.

A different contractor. A foundation barely started. A custom home dream slipping through their fingers.

We stepped in, and rebuilt it from the ground up in Greensville, Ontario.

From the outside, the home settles into the landscape like it's always belonged there. Layered stacked-stone walls in warm earth tones. ✨Deep timber overhangs with copper rain chains that turn a storm into something worth watching.
✨A bold red door at the entry — quiet confidence with a wink of personality.
✨Around the back, a wraparound deck with frameless glass railings disappears into the trees, blurring the line between the home and the woods around it.
✨A spiral staircase drops down to a flagstone patio below, where Adirondack chairs circle a fire pit tucked into the garden.

Every material was chosen with intention. Every sightline considered. Custom from top to bottom.

Nearly 15 years of building custom homes across Southern Ontario, and homes like this one are the reason we keep doing it.
