Rest in peace, a true Canadian icon. 🥊 We grieve our dear friend George Chuvalo, who passed away on his 89th birthday, leaving behind an unmatched legacy.
Many know him as the unstoppable heavyweight who went toe-to-toe with Ali ("the toughest guy I ever fought”), Foreman, and Frazier—fighting 93 professional bouts and famously never being knocked down once.
But to us at Tom’s Place, George was simply a warm presence with a heart as big as his chin. He loved people, loved telling stories, and spent decades giving back by mentoring youth and sharing his own trials to help others.
He was old-school Toronto grit personified, yet a true gentleman. It was our absolute honour to have him as part of our family over the years.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone who looked up to the Champ. Rest well, George. You never hit the canvas, and you’ll never be forgotten. 🇨🇦❤️
