This custom two-drawer dresser looks as though it stepped straight out of a historic chateau. A serene French White applied with a textured stipple effect and softly antiqued for a beautiful, weathered patina. A hand-painted, faded laurel wreath surrounding a classic Empire bee centered on both drawer fronts. Ornate decorative mouldings highlighted with genuine, burnished gold leafing for that perfect historical glow.

I turned a scrap piece of plywood, cardboard leaves, and a cheap plastic Christmas cherub into a stunning, faux-plaster antique! With a few layers of paint, crackle medium, and tinted glaze rubbed into the crevices, the plastic and cardboard completely disappeared. It now has the gorgeous, heavy look of a weathered, 18th-century French garden plaque. Never underestimate the power of paint and a good patina! Extravagant home decor doesn't have to cost a fortune-sometimes it just takes a little imagination.
