To my Plus Size community,
and to all those who have supported and followed my journey through the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show,
I owe you an explanation.
I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on when and how to share this message. After much consideration, I felt it was important to communicate transparently and thoughtfully, even if that meant choosing a longer format to properly honor the journey we shared.
After running Malia Indigo and producing the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show TPSFS (an international and annual event dedicated to inclusivity, representation, and diversity within the Canadian fashion industry) I have made the difficult decision to close the business and transition my professional focus to my business consulting firm, JLM CONSULTING (www.jlmcpa.ca).
This decision was not made lightly. Over the years, producing the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show required a significant and increasing level of operational, financial, and human resources to deliver the caliber of event our community deserved. Despite its impact and success, the return on investment remained limited, and the level of institutional and decision-maker support necessary to sustain and grow the initiative long term was not sufficient. To continue operating the event on an annual basis would have required resources that were no longer aligned with a sustainable business model.
That said, the journey itself has been deeply meaningful. Together, we created visibility, opened doors, challenged industry norms, and positively impacted lives. The Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show contributed to important conversations around representation and helped move the industry forward in ways that should not be underestimated.
I want to sincerely thank every model, designer, creative, partner, volunteer, supporter, and audience member who believed in this vision and helped bring it to life. Your involvement, trust, and encouragement made this experience possible, and I remain profoundly grateful for the community we built.
While this chapter is coming to a close, the values that guided this work, integrity, inclusion, impact, and purpose continue to shape my professional path. I look forward to applying these principles in new ways through JLM CONSULTING and future endeavors.
Thank you for walking this journey with me and for the unwavering support you have shown over the years.
With gratitude and respect,
Malia Indigo
