Hello!

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I’ve finally decided to put it out there and ask if there is an interest for folks, both for youth and adults. 😊

I would like to offer beginner sewing courses (to start- perhaps offer intermediate at a later point) in my home for anyone who has always wanted to learn how to make their own clothes—but didn’t know where to start. I would offer private or semi-private (I have limited space). I could offer a beginner's series (say 8 weeks or so) or workshops for honing more specific skills.

I’ve been sewing most of my life, and teaching (classical piano- I have my ARCT- and high school science and mathematics- I have my B. Ed) for many, many years as well, so this feels like a really natural (and exciting!) combination for me.

This will be a very supportive atmosphere, learning the skills step-by-step —starting right from the sewing machine basics, all the way to making simple, wearable garments. No experience needed at all.

The focus will be on:
• Building confidence
• Learning at a comfortable pace
• Actually making clothes you can wear

The run time of classes/courses will depend on individual interest.

Hello! I opened a couple weeks ago but I then suddenly and unexpectedly lost my dog so didn’t take on jobs for a bit. I have been sewing for over 40 years and used to do a lot of bridal and home decor. I am now eager to help Vernon with smaller sewing jobs (I am not interested in doing bridal anymore) so feel free to email me ([email protected]), direct message me here or text me!

Threadworks Sewing is now open in Vernon 🧵✂️

After many years behind a sewing machine (and a few decades of life experience 😉), I’m happy to share that Threadworks Sewing – Made Right by Ruth will officially open February 1, 2026.

I offer practical, well-finished sewing services such as:
• Hems and alterations
• Zipper replacements
• Clothing fixes and adjustments
• Small sewing projects, taken on by request

I work by appointment, one project at a time, so everything gets the care it deserves.
