Today, our hearts are heavy.
Like so many in Tillsonburg, I was devastated to learn of the tragic passing of Tuan in yesterday’s motorcycle accident.
Tuan was an incredible entrepreneur who built his barber business with hard work, passion, and determination. I remember when his journey began in the very space that SixPence & Sage Tillsonburg now calls home, before he grew into a larger location across the street. Watching another small business owner achieve that success was something to admire.
In just a short time, he was looking forward to marrying the love of his life. I had the honour of being part of that journey by helping dress his young son for the wedding. Tuan was also the barber for my eldest son, and his kindness, warm smile, and genuine spirit will be missed in so many ways.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Tuan’s family, friends, clients, and everyone who loved him. I am also thinking of the other individuals involved in this accident. Lives were changed forever yesterday, and the road ahead will undoubtedly be difficult for many.
Thank you to the first people who stopped to help before emergency crews arrived, and to all of the first responders who attended the scene with compassion and professionalism. Your work, often on people’s worst days, does not go unnoticed.
Just because I own a local bridal shop doesn’t mean I can’t help. Before this chapter of my life, I spent 20 years as a paramedic. I have stood on roadsides, witnessed the unimaginable, and seen firsthand how tragedies like this ripple through families, friends, witnesses, first responders, and an entire community.

Life can change in an instant. Hold your loved ones a little closer today, tell them you love them, and never take tomorrow for granted.
