Frayed towels? We all know them.
Frequent hot washing can wear the edges out over time — but they don’t have to be thrown away.

I saved these two towels by finishing the worn edges with cotton binding.
Now they can be used again — and still look neat and beautiful.

Another everyday item repaired instead of replaced.

Another repair done — this time a backpack with a broken side pocket.
It’s a very common problem, especially where you keep a water bottle.

Instead of replacing the whole pocket, I hand-sewed a piece of stretchy fabric using strong thread.
It took time and patience, but it works again.

You can repair this kind of damage yourself —
all you need is some elastic fabric, a needle, strong thread, and a bit of time.

And if not — I’m here to help 🙂
The choice is yours: repair or replace?

A pair of men’s smart trousers saved.

The belt loops were worn out from carrying a backpack — a very common problem.
I was able to repair them so neatly because the owner had kept a small piece of the original fabric after hemming the trousers.

That little scrap made all the difference.

✨ A small tip: don’t throw away leftover fabric after alterations.
What may look like waste can one day save your favorite clothes.

Another pair of jeans repaired with machine darning.
The hole was huge and right on the seat — now it’s barely visible and ready to be worn again.

But this is also about a choice.
Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy new than to repair.
But throwing clothes away doesn’t make them disappear — they still exist somewhere.

So the question is: what do we choose?

Another pair of trousers repaired. This time ski trousers so I used a waterproof patch, carefully sewn on a sewing machine.

To do it properly, I had to open some of the original seams and then recreate them afterwards.
It takes time, but the result is clean, strong, and made to last.

A professional repair that saves the pants from being thrown away.

Fixing My Closet

This top has a special story. I made it at the very beginning of my sewing journey, using a store-bought pattern I thought would be perfect… but it turned out to be completely wrong for me. Too wide, tight sleeves, a neckline that didn’t feel right — basically nothing worked.

At first, I still wore it because I was proud of making it. But over time, it just sat in my closet, unworn. And it felt like such a waste — especially knowing I made it myself.

So I decided to give it another chance. This time, I didn’t follow any pattern. I followed what I’ve learned about my own style, what I actually enjoy wearing, and how I want clothes to feel. I even flipped the fabric to the other side — choosing stripes over the original dots — and created something completely new.

And honestly? I’m so proud of this one. It’s comfortable, it feels like me, and I know I’ll wear it all the time.

This is what “Fixing My Closet” is about — learning, improving, and giving clothes a second life instead of letting them go to waste. 🌍💚

This backpack lost the metal eyelet where the cord goes through.
I patched the hole with a strong piece of fabric and replaced the eyelet.
I also fixed the other one so they match again.

Small repair, big difference.
Thank you for repairing your things and caring for the environment.

Machine darning jeans — step by step 🧵

Always start by reinforcing the damaged area from the inside with fusible interfacing and a piece of fabric.
I baste the fabric in place first, so nothing moves while sewing.

If the hole is close to a pocket, remove the pocket before repairing — and sew it back on afterwards.

Don’t have thick denim thread?
