Chunari INDIA

Chunari INDIA An endeavour to promote, help sustain and support the amazing and diverse craftsmanship, weavers and I endeavour to source products in a few ways.

Chunari was born out of my passion to introduce and make available affordable yet stunning creations by Indian artisans, to help promote their talent and sheer diversity. Born and brought up in India, I discovered my love for Indian art and culture only after moving to the West! I realised the amazing diversity, dexterity, variety and craftsmanship that my home country had to offer which was not r

eadily available here. While sourcing and exploring more about these products, I discovered a hitherto undiscovered passion for hand made, intricate and rare forms of craftsmanship which are an inherent part of India's rich history and culture over centuries. Persian, British, Dutch to Portuguese cultural blending and influences combined with the traditions and crafts of one of the richest and oldest civilisations of the world, India has a vast and mind boggling variety of embroideries, fabrics, paintings, handicrafts etc. The idea of Chunari started with my sourcing things for my friends and grew from there. Firstly, directly from artisans hence cutting of the middle man following principles of fair trade. Secondly, from NGO's which are either supporting artisans in sustaining and keeping alive certain art forms or those which train women and children with certain vocations enabling them to sustain a livelihood. From time to time I also bring products of certain designer's who impress me with their amalgamation of rich traditional art forms with a more contemporary twist. Occasionally I also explore the budding designer in me ( being a complete science nut so far) and design some pieces myself ! I hope you like and appreciate my collection and efforts. A percentage of all sales goes towards supporting some of my pet charities back in India, mostly related to either children's education or women empowerment, two causes very close to my heart. The products can be purchased and delivered via post within Switzerland or by private viewing in Geneva at my residence. I also take part in pop up events and have open days from time to time. Please like my page to get all new updates and events and offers. We accept returns in case of defects within 7 days of purchase. Please expect the colours to vary bit due to lighting and photography exposures. We try to take pictures as close as possible to the real products. Since almost all our products are hand-made and hand-crafted, do not expect a machine finish and symmetry. There will be a few flaws from time to time, these add to the charm and authenticity of the
item in question. we hope you like and appreciate these craftsman and artisans and their skills.

Europe is experiencing yet another intense heatwave!! We are suffering from the effects of global warming !

It reminds us that every choice we make has an impact. While no single purchase changes the climate, our collective consumption habits DO matter!!

Fast fashion has made clothing cheaper than ever, but the environmental cost is enormous—overproduction, textile waste, pollution and the pressure to produce more, faster and cheaper.

Perhaps it’s time to buy less, but buy better.

Choose pieces that are made to last. Support artisans, handcraft, ethical production and natural fibres whenever you can. Repair, rewear and cherish what you own.

Sustainability isn’t about perfection or buying expensive things. It’s about making more thoughtful choices, one purchase at a time.

Our planet—and future generations—deserve nothing less
