Curtiss Jacobs Gallery is delighted to present EAT GOOD, a solo exhibition by Belchez.

EAT GOOD is Belchez’s third solo exhibition and his debut with Curtiss Jacobs Gallery, reflecting a shared commitment to food equity and quality of life in Harlem and other underserved communities.
At the center of the exhibition is the quarter water, a familiar staple of many low income neighborhoods: inexpensive, accessible, brightly colored, and often accepted without question. Belchez transforms its recognizable container into a hand gr***de, recasting an object associated with childhood and convenience into a powerful symbol of normalized harm. The work challenges viewers to consider everyday consumption as a consequence of systemic inequity and asks who has been left to bear its cost.
EAT GOOD embodies Belchez’s mission, “Transforming Access to Community,” calling on working class communities to question what they have been given and to imagine what they truly deserve.
A Harlem native, Belchez is a multidisciplinary artist and designer whose materials driven practice explores health, cultural awareness, and community empowerment. A former pentathlete and football player, he brings the discipline of athletics, education, and design into a body of work centered on creative development, cultural consciousness, and collective well being. Through his art, he remains deeply committed to mentoring Harlem’s youth and strengthening the community that shaped him.
